I first played the Tony Hawk Pro Skater Demo and I thought it was fake looking and it was hard to do tricks and I got bored of it very quickly you only got 2 minutes to play and then it started over.in this game Demo you had a chance to learn the Moves.I Played the Demo for Thrasher Skate and Destroy and it was easier to do Tricks and the way that the skateboardersmoved and did tricks Like a 360 flip looked more Realistic. In Tony Hawkproskater the 360 flip looks like a 180 kickflip, What is That? This gameis more real and you could do cooler tricks in this game and Better combosof tricks than you could do in Tony hawk.Today I finally got this gameand it is 100 times better than the demo version of Thrasher. If yourlooking for a Real skateboarding game with a cool oldschool Hip-hipsoundtrack: Run DMC,Planit Rock, tribe,EPMD,GangSTARR, and more.12different places to skate with tons of secret skate spots : VeniceBeach,EMB, LA court house,China Banks, and More. Also in multi-player modecompete on who can do the best wall ride, who can do the worst crash, playhorse or Skate and other cool things. Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence Review

Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
Average Reviews:

Ever since the first "Metal Gear Solid" brought stealth-gaming, cinematic storytelling, and the franchise to a new level back in 1999, this series has gotten nothing but better. This latest entry is an expanded version of "Snake Eater" (first released Nov. 2004).To all new gamers, do not let this series' long-standing reputation intimidate you.Believe me, this newest entry in the acclaimed series is one for everybody. To anybody who plays video games, this is one to check out.

For the newcomers, the "Metal Gear" games require the player to avoid enemy conflict and reach their objectives through stealth and covert tactics. The previous games took place in more industrial settings like warehouses and weapons factories. This time, lead protagonist Snake must survive the jungle using camoflouge and the utmost caution. But to as much of a stealth game as this is, it also a fierce yet poetic one. From a tense sniper battle in the jungle, to a gruesome and sadistic torture scene. From a deadly escort mission with plenty of carnage, to a one-on-one confrontation amidst white-flowered fields. It's also a pretty damn funny game sometimes. The sexual tension in this game is both alluring and shamelessly exploitve...I'll leave it at that.I must admit that I find the prologue chapter (which will take a new player about an hour to finish) to be kind of dull until its closing cutscene. But be patient, and you will be rewarded.
Playing through the other two "Metal Gear Solid" games makes the story clearer and more meaningful. However, I say with confidence that because "Metal Gear Solid 3" features a more direct plot than the cryptic second title, newcomers should get into this one fairly easily.Honestly, you need not to have played any "Metal Gear" game for this gripping story to make sense. Will you get more out of it as an experienced player: Definitely! Can you still appreciate this exciting, suspenseful, character-driven, and intelligent tale without the background: Definitely!

For those who've already played through "Snake Eater" (the original PS2 version), there is more additional content that is well worth checking out.The most popular addition is a new camera system that allows players to avoid the top-down perspective, and better see their surroundings as if it were a jungle version of "Splinter Cell".Although this makes the game a lot easier to play, some of the presentation is lost.Hideo Kojima created some of these levels with a cinematic flair, and you don't get as much suspense when you can see everything. The good news, which somehow wasn't advertised very well, is that you can pick either camera view whenever you want. You, the player, are in complete control of how you want to play this game at ALL times.

Disc 2 features some excellent content.A new Theater lets you watch some outlandish parodies of some of the "Snake Eater" cutscenes. The CIA Director's revenge on Snake, Snake's HALO dive going terribly wrong, and my personal favorite---Raiden's desperate need for the spotlight and the resulting "time paradoxes" he causes. These alternate reality scenes are hilarious! The complete library of the original cutscense is available on the first Disc from the get-go.There is some Online versus modes that deathmatch fans will love. And for the true "Metal Gear" fanboy - the MSX versions of the first two "Metal Gear" games, which were terribly butchered on the NES (sorry, Nintendo).

So, should those who own the original "Snake Eater" pick up the expanded version of "Metal Gear Solid 3"?My answer is absolutely!Trade in your old copy, and pick up this version immediately. It's very fair-priced for 30 bucks or less, and the Extra content is excellent.I love all of the "Metal Gear Solid" games, in all of their iterations. What's special about this game is that for the third time running, Hideo Kojima's beloved "Metal Gear Solid" franchise surpasses all expectations that I have no doubt that "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" on the PS3 is going to be amazing - such faith in a video game series is rare!

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Review

Metal Gear Solid 2 is a great game. Although not everyone liked the plot, the stealth gameplay is still the most fun on the market. The game was released over a year ago on PS2, but last winter, this souped-up game came to Xbox. Now it is back on PS2, and finally PC.
The main game, Sons of Liberty, is a great game. People have critized the plot, but I found it enjoyable. The variety of gameplay is great, though. You go undercover as a terrorist, defuse bombs, destroy security cameras, take pictures of Metal Gear Ray (a powerful nuclear weapon), and fight hard bosses. All of Snake's stealth tactics are present, even the new first-person view. In case you haven't heard, there is a new character (Raiden). However, he can perform all the same moves that Solid Snake could. The main game really emphasizes stealth, but if yuo are caught, it is not game over. Instead, you have a hard firefight ahead of you. It is fairly long, about 15 hours.
What is good about this game is all the extra content. There are over 300 VR missions. They are similar to the main game, but take place in a computer-generated combat zone. They have a good variety, and are fairly challenging. There are also over 150 alternative missions. The difference is that these take place in locations from the game (Big Shell or Tanker). Once again, these are challenging, varied, and cool. There are also 5 new Snake Tales. These include Solid Snake, and take place in levels from the game. However, all theese extra modes are difficult. There is no difficulty select for them.
Overall, this is a great game. If you do not own it, buy it. If you own another version of Metal Gear solid 2: Substance (PS2 of Xbox), this is not worth buying again. If you own the original on PS2, you should buy this for the extra content. As for which system? Depends on if you like a controller over a keyboard and mouse.

This game is one of them.Revolutionary gameplay/interface never seen before, excellent voice acting, fabulous music/effects, and most of all, a gripping story that immediately hooks you in, and develops more and more as you play. Many purchased a PSX just for this game, and many will surely buy a PS2 just for MGS2.
** To all gamers - if you've never played MGS before, you REALLY should.Unlike most other brainless killing games, this game teaches you that avoiding battles through clever tactical choices is wise -- and that death is scary, painful, horrible, and sad.
** To all parents - like I stated above, the game has a pretty vocal message about death.I would rate it M for Mature, but if your child is already blowing out enemy brains in Quake-type games, this game may end up teaching more of a lesson than anything.
** To PSX owners - it's a near-perfect port, so you won't find too many things that are new.Storyline, gameplay, and all secrets (bandana, stealth suit, etc) are preserved.Still, being able to play this game in stunningly clear 1024x768 resolution graphics without the tedious CD read/load time made this worth my($).(not to mention the included VR pack)
Longevity: Replay value is not *that* high, since it is a "beatable" game.Still, most people will find themselves going through MGS another round and trying new things. Also, the VR pack helps you satisfy those times when you just want some action, but don't have hours to spend on the mission, so in that sense, it's value-packed for ($).
Advice#1: A 10-button PSX-style gamepad is STRONGLY recommended, unless you are comfortable with the keyboard. My Gravis Gamepad Pro (($)) works perfectly - and really, you need all 10 buttons.
Advice#2: If you have two CD-ROM drives like I do, leave both CD's in there. That way, you won't have to swap CD's at all.Of course, doing this may be bad for your health, as you may "forget" to take a break.=)
Advice#3: Savor it.Enjoy it.Don't rush through the game, but instead, explore, talk to everyone -- enjoy the game..
Snaaaaaake!

Metal Gear Solid is probably the best game I've ever played. It's not just another action game, its got some really innovative stuff in it.The biggest thing about this game is the fact that you have to be stealthy. This isn't just another game full of mindless gunfights; if you charge intoevery enemy you see, you won't make it far. Also, MGS has one of the bestvideo game stories ever, and it has great voice talents to back it up.Theboss fights are cool too because a lot of them require someneatstrategies. For those of you who are fans of first person shooters, don'tworry, there's still plenty of weapons and gadgets in MGS.The onlycomplaint I've ever heard about this game is that is's too short. That maybe true, but Resident Evil 2 is even shorter and it didn't get critisismover it.Besides, you'll have to play through multiple times to see bothendings and use the extras you get for beating the game.Basically, MGShas been setting the standard for games like Syphon Filter, and I think italways will.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Review

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
By far, Metal Gear Solid: Substance is one of the most fun, innovative, awesome, and needless to say, quite possibly the most fun game ever... bar NONE! MGS2:S (Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance) is a highly stylized stealth game based around several main and supporting characters. Unlike most games, you are not force-fed the same character the whole time. The developers at Konami had the insight to include several characters. Basically, there are several reasons I love MGS2:S.
The first reason is the ambience. The general atmosphere of this game screams stealth. The plot has more plot twists than you can shake a stick at. Those of you with an IQ lower than butter may not be able to comprehend the full plot. Yes, some portions of the plot are, to say the least, unbelievable. At first, anyway. Most of them are explained away as the plot matures. Some are left unresolved, thus leaving the audience either wondering what happened, or wanting more. The lower percentage of you may not understand much of the story, and I can not recommend it for you, however there is plenty of action (which I will address later). There are no plot flaws, and that leaves most of us with a refreshing alternative to the regular shooter; a smart stealth action/adventure/shooter.
The second reason I love MGS2:S is the intelligence. The gaurds are not morons! If you are sneeking around in a box (fun) and you park in the middle of the hallway, they will pick it up and shoot you. If they hear gunshots, they will investigate. You cannot stay in the same place. If you kill a gaurd, and he doesn't report in, they come and sweep the area. If they see wet footprints, they will investigate. They occasionaly fall asleep, but that does not make the game much easier. There are several details that may destract you, like posters. The complexity of this game is amazing. The enemies may not be stupid, but the upside is everything, and I do mean everying is a LETHAL weapon. This includes broken glass, pepper spray, and even knocked out or dead gaurds.
The third reason I love this game so much is the complexity. The attention to detail is amazing. The graphics are superb, as is the sound and AI. Everything about this game screeches first-rate. The cinematics include in depth character and relationship development. The less intelligent may not get or appreciate this, but it adds to the complexity of the game. One example of the game's complexity is the various sidequests. Collecting dogtags is my favorite. If you hold up a gaurd (the russian ones are funny) and point the gun at his head or crotch in first-person view, eventually he will shake and drop a dogtag. They are pointless, but will add to the hours of gameplay they will sustain.
The fourth reason I love this game so much is the gameplay and replay value. If you hear the common "this game only plays four, like, six hours!" don't believe it for one second. There are well over 500 (yes, that's right, five hundered) VR missions. They may take as short as a few seconds to complete, or as long as an hour or two. These missions add to the gameplay several hours, about 70-80 hours to perfect. Yes, I have to admit, there is no multiplayer (*sigh*), and the actual story mode may take as short as 6-10 hours of gameplay, but the cinematics and cutscenes add at least 4 or 5 hours. Some people say they are boring, and I say revert to your plotless, bland games, like "Doom". Obviously, this game has proved impressive. Look at the reviews in magazines and TV shows hailing it as one of the best games ever, bar none. This game is everything it should be. No matter what people say, this game's raplay value is nothing near short.
The PROS:
The game's level design fits with the plot perfectly, and is pure genius.
The graphics are superb and state-of-the-art. Eye candy!
The sound quality is nothing less than exceptional. Movie-quality.
The gameplay is awesome. Hours of entertainment.
The CONS:
In the rain, the game slows a little. I am told this is due to the emulation of the PS2 was direct, and the time was not taken to correct it.
The storyline is sometimes confusing to the less-intelligent.
The cinematics may be a little over the top, some lasting over 30 minutes...Before the gaurds can call in, shoot their radio so they lose contact.
Keep an eye on the radar.
When trying to catch the gaurds on surprise without them knowing, when in corner veiw press the weapons button (X) and jump out and shoot them. Press (X) several times to shoot several times. Just make sure they are facing the other way when you try this.
If you have an M9 modified for tranquilizer rounds, and you knock someone unconsious (they have little stars spining around teir heads) shoot them so they fall asleep longer and probably won't bother you for a while.
Try not to use guns that are not sileced or surpressed.
Try to not use your ammo. If you can, choke the gaurds or break their necks. Practice doing this in a patrol route with multiple gaurds without being dectected. You should probably conserve ammo for when you need it.
Save often, so if you are detected, you can revert to that ideal position.
If blood makes you uneasy, you can turn it of in the options menu. The cinematics still have blood, and the "Plant" portion of the game where the introduction to Vamp is will still have blood, though.
Thanks for Reading, and good luck with the game!...

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Review

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Average Reviews:

Let me start this review by saying METAL GEAR SOLID for PSX is my all-time favorite game ever. And before that was my favorate game of all time, SNATCHER for the Sega CD was (both written and directed by Hideo Kojima). After the huge let down that was Metal Gear Solid 2, I was looking forward to this remake that would feature the same great gameplay mechanics as MGS2 with the same great storyline of MGS.Did this game deliver?Yes.Well...sort of.While the game has much prettier graphics and gameplay, there are some things changed where they never should have messed with perfection:

1.) My first gripe is the decline in voice acting.Naomi, Mei Ling, and Natasha have all lost their ethnic accents which gave them personality in the original, so now they just seem stiff and boring. The voice acting overall is just not as good, and I didn't like the tweaks made to the script.

2.) The absence of the classic music that made scenes so exciting in favor of that weird techno crap from MGS2.

3.)While I do like some of the extended cutscenes, such as the first encounter with the ninja, others are just ridiculously over-the-top, and too matrix wannabie.

4.) While the game does sport the much improved gameplay of MGS2, the level layouts are exactly the same and were not designed with these play mechanics in mind, rendering them pretty much unnecessary to use, with the exception of the first person view mode... which, as another reviewer pointed out, deletes certain challenges from the game.

Overall, it just doesn't have the magic or the soul that the original does.If you never played the original game, none of the above will bother you, so I highly recommend you buy this. For those of you who have played the original, it's worth a rental to play through with the spiffy new graphics, cutscenes, etc.But I'd take original over this remake any day of the week.If you want to play a remake that surpasses its original, I recommend the Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube.

As far as value goes, this is superb. These games are really worth so much more than other games on the market as far as production value and depth go. They are absolutely timeless. Content-wise, this is certainly five stars.

You may be interested to know about this set however...

The games are not individually shrink wrapped. In fact, the shrink wrap didn't even cover the whole box set and there's an opening on the side which the games "bindings" are. I could almost slip out the games without messing with the shrink wrap at all.

Also, the first game is on a ps1 disc and you need a ps1 memory card or ps3 to save like A. Pintor said. "Metal Gear Solid" is still on 2 discs so the set is 4 discs total.

All the discs are black with white font. So they match as a set but look different than the original released version discs.

Each game has a pretty meaty manual as well that match the front and back of their respective game case.

yup, if you're missing just one game in this series, its worth picking up the set.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater Review

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
Average Reviews:

By far, this movi--err, I mean game, has some of the best cut scenes I've ever seen in a game.Kojima, the creator/director of the Metal Gear Series goes beyond delivering a traditional action shoot-em-up and offers up a truly interactive cinematic experience, with some truly original gameplay to boot.

In a sense, this game is really an "interactive movie" where parts of it, you control the character (although your actions largely have little outcome in the plot). On your first play-through, you will be immersed in the plot line and the execellent cinematic sequences. You'll find that you're often playing just to get from one cut scene to the next (there has to be well over 1.5 hours of cut scenes).4 of my friends basically sat around and watched me beat the game in one sitting (~9 hours) just to watch the cinematic sequences.

In these cut scenes, Kojima pieces together a somewhat hokey plot-line, which is interesting, but not entirely believable (I'll let it slide ;)).What's more impressive, though, is the detail to which the cut scenes are executed; all of the sequences use high detail, in game models (not pre rendered), pretty good voice acting, and fully motion captured action.Kojima adds cinematic flare to the scenes by making creative use of camera angles and techniques like slo-mo (don't worry, none of it is cheesy) and using a pitch black screen (only audio) during a sequence when Snake has a sack over his head.In addition, Kojima introduces a few very interesting characters, most notably, The End, an expert marksman in the twilight of his life and a young hotshot, Ocelot. All in all, the cut scenes are top notch; they come together to form a truly cinematic experience, something you don't always expect from a game.

While you can beat the game playing it as a pure shoot-em-up style type of game (you'll probably want to do that on the first play through, just to watch all of the cut scenes), you'll get the most satisfaction and challenge from trying to use your stealth capabilities and sneaking through the various stages of the game undetected by the enemy. To that effect, MGS3 introduces the very novel idea of camouflage.Snake can don various camo uniforms and face paints to blend in with his environments and decrease his visibility. It adds a novel twist and, as other reviewers have mentioned, would have been even more welcome if the interface to change the camo was more accessible (you have to enter the game menu to change camo).

MGS3 also introduces the idea of food, which can be used in various ways in the game (even as a weapon in some cases).Snake can obtain traps and capture live animals for consumption later on, or he can kill an animal and store it in his backpack. But beware, just like in real life, the food will spoil.Just turn the game off, come back two or three days later and you'll find that most of your food has spoiled.Don't worry though, there are plenty of little critters to hunt down in the game ;)

Although the game is relatively short, there is tremendous replay value for those that are up to the challenge of trying to play through the game under certain conditions to unlock secret items/weapons.For example, each of the bosses can be defeated by either depleting their health or stamina.Defeating a boss by the latter results in obtaining their camo, which often have special abilities.

All in all, I think this is a great game that anyone that owns a PS2 owes it to themselves to play through at least once.It is truly a masterpiece that kind of bridges the gap between a movie and a game (one of the final "chase" sequences is *very* awesome).

Graphics: 9/10; Some of the best visuals I've seen to date, particularly the excellent cut scenes, which use high detail in game models and fully motion captured action. There is just an incredible level of detail to everything in the game. For example, when you run through the jungle, the blades of grass move as well, you leave footsteps when you step through the mud, and when you get shot or injured, your uniform gets stained with blood accordingly

Mechanics: 8/10; I only have three minor gripes about the mechanics of the game.First of all, there isn't a second person view and you can't move in first person view. It's incredibly difficult to aim in third person view, but in first person view, you can't move, so you're basically a sitting target every time you need to aim precisely.Second of all, since camo plays a big part in the game, there should really have been a better interface to change camo. And finally, you cannot load the game during a game, you have to reset the game. This is somewhat frustrating and time consuming when you are trying to obtain certain items under certain conditions in the highest difficulty level ;)

Music/Sound: 9/10; The voice acting in the game seems hokey at first, but after a while, you won't be able to imagine the characters with any other voice.Overall, the voiceovers are done fairly well. For the most part, the gameplay sequences are devoid of music. When it does come on, usually when you get caution/alert status, it can be a bit annoying since it makes it somewhat difficult to hear the ambient sounds like footsteps and what not.The ambient sounds, from jungle to mountain top to caves, are all very well done. When it rains, it really sounds like rain. When the wind howls, it really sounds like the wind is howling.Put on a good pair of headphones, and you'll really feel like you're in the jungle with Snake. There are also a few 007-esque tracks, which may or may not be your thing.

Difficulty: 7/10; The game is not actually very difficult, it just requires a lot of patience, some creative thinking occasionally, and a steady hand. This game is certainly not for younger gamers; it's not really a run-and-gun type of game.In addition, there is quite a bit of suggestive material and violence.

Replay Value: 8/10; With many different levels of difficulty, different optional items to get, different styles of play, different rankings, secret items, and a relatively short length, the game offers a high level of replayability.Even some of the cut scenes are worth watching a few extra times.I'm currently on my second play through, trying to get the invisible camo on the hardest difficulty mode.

Overall: 9/10;This is a great, great game. It's nearly perfect (nearly!).You'd be doing yourself a great disservice if you didn't pick it up and play it.

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow Review

Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Imagine PS2 graphics, tons of unlockables, customization, stealth, tense action, explosions, and one guy with a gruff action who just sounds like he could crack your neck.

Congratulations! You have one of the best titles on the PSP: Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. This was my first Syphon Filter title, and I fully enjoyed it.

Graphics:
PS2. Yup, great graphics, its smooth, the animations are great, and also the cinematics are smooth and make you blink a few times and make sure that your holding a PSP.Everything is as good as you can get on the PSP.

Controls:
Great. Although, when you have your back on a surface, and you peer around the corner, it'll shift oddly occasionally, but this is usually only on four foot surfaces. The controls feel natural, as well as you are able to act in cut-scenes, I remember one time, I wasn't expecting anything to happen, and I got my throat slit. Even when your in a cut-scene, keep your eyes open, and your hand ready. It's always tense.

Load Times:
Not bad for the PSP. Having the slim probably helps though. ;) Never slows down in the game, which is nice, because that occasionally happens in some games.

Gameplay:
Yup. Let's go over some basics. You can either be stealthy with a knife and a silenced pencil, or strategical with darts and tazers. With the ability to use the environment, you can kill three people with a misplaced bomb. Not to mention you can take out an AK - 47 and run in their like a hooligan, blasting away people like no tomorrow.
