Crash Time Review

1. Can be enjoyed equally well using either the controller or the Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel with the gas and brake pedals. Both will give you a different experience. Using the wheel while sitting in a chair is just like driving a car while using the controller may alloy for a little more precision driving around corners. Both will provide a unique experience and double the value of your racing/diving games.
2. THE AUTOREVERSE IS UNIQUE IN THIS GAME COMPARED TO OTHER RACING GAMES.THE MANUAL DOESN'T TELL YOU HOW TO AUTOREVERSE CORRECTLY, BUT I'LL TELL YOU.After coming to a completes stop with your left trigger pulled, release the left trigger, and then re-pull the left trigger to go into reverse. Then pull the right trigger when you need to go forward again. You can also manually shift gears or go into reverse even with the car in automatic.
3. The autoreverse works only when you are flush against a solid object and can't move an inch to the right or left. If doesn't seem to matter if you have autoreverse enabled or disabled, it seems to work the same way.
4. You can disable the replay feature it desired.
5. When racing thru traffic, drive in the first person (hood or bumper view). It' much easier to race through traffic with a lot less damage than the 3rd-person view. The trailing views aren't nealy as fun either.
6. When you need to smash the targeted car and then pull up beside it or to give it 100% damage, it's advantageous to switch to the 3rd person (trailing view) but not essential.
7. Switch the view points using the up on the directional pad.
8. This game is really challanging and hard even on "easy". Just like Turok there is nothing easy when you play it on "easy". This is much more fun than shooters. You get to drive thru the city, dirt roads, and the Autobaun at 100 to 160mph completing all the challenges and missions.
9. I don't think any sane person can beat the game Hard without spending 1,000,000 hours of game play. So don't even try. Go into the options menu and change it to "easy". On hard the damage to your car is a 10% limit. On Normal it's 20%. On "Easy" its 30%. The damage quota isn't there for some of the missions.
10. You can change the KPH to MPH in the options menu.
11. After the first case is beaten, 5 race tracks and 5 vehicles will be unlocked. With each case you beat you will unlock more and more. The racing events are fun. You get to do point to point races and circuit races using all kinds of different vehicles and tracks thru the Autobaun, city and country roads.
12. You can play the game with the cases, and you can do the racing events (after the first case is beaten).
13. THIS GAME CAN BE REALLY FRUSTRATING AT TIMES. YOU MIGHT NEED TO REPEAT SOME OF THE MISSIONS SEVERAL TIMES FOR HOURS TO BEAT SOME OF THEM. ALSO, AFTER YOU BEAT THE FIRST COUPLE OF CASES, ON SOME MISSIONS, THE OBJECTIVES WILL FLASH BY IN JUST ONE OR TWO SECONDS. YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA OF WHAT TO DO BASED ON PREVIOUS MISSIONS YOU BEAT ESPECIALLY FROM THE FIRST CASE. BUT, EVERYTIME YOU FAIL A MISSION, THERE IS A CHECKLIST OF MISSION OBJECTIVES LISTING THE OBJECTIVES YOU WERE SUCCESSFUL AT (GREEN CHECKMARK) AND THOSE OBJECTIVES YOU FAILED (RED CHECKMARK).

Each case has many missions to it, about 5 or 6 average.
Each and every mission has a new challenges with new variables as you go thru the game. There is a new and different challenge to be done. You'll have different vehicle and even a tank. A few of challenges are the similar to previous ones, but each is unique with unique variable, e.g, traffic for one. You are traveling thru the Autobaun and country roads and city streets with a new and unique challenge with each case and mission.
Once you get passed the first case, the challenges become more unique and fun. Just when you thought you've experienced it all there's a new more challenging mission.

This is totally unique from any other driving game. This makes a great addition to all the other racing/driving games that I own, e.g., Dirt 2, Grid, Need For Speed: Pro Street/Undercover/Shift, Flatout Ultimate Carnage, Burnout Paradise.
This is a keeper. I love this game. This can also be one of the tougher/toughest games to beat all the way through even on "easy".

I've beaten this game twice. I know it well.I can assist with any questions.

There's also a sequal called Autobaun Polezi which is great also. There are the case missions, plus missions you get on patrol along with a GPS indicator as well as a map in the pause menu to see where your target is.
There's a CrashTime III which has been release in Europe, but not yet in the USA.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Review

Need For Speed: Most Wanted

This is a really great game.Though begining the game can take a while explaining the story, it's worth the wait.In Free Roam mode, you can interact with the environment like you couldn't in the other games in the Need For Speed series. You can knock over street lamps, see the damage on street cars as you crash into them, and slam into lumber trucks and watch the logs roll of into the street. You can even drive underneath the trucks. In the beginning the police purstuits are rather basic, but gradually increase in intensity, involving road blocks, spike strips, even SUVs the smash into your car and blocking your way. There is a greater variety of races now including tollbooth and speedtrap. The only real downside that I found was that the instuctions that came with the game didnt explain all too much, but luckily it shouldn't take too long to learn the ins and outs of the game.Im really pleased with the latest in the series.Have fun and don't get caught by the police ;-)

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Review

Need For Speed: Most Wanted

Many reviews focus on the copy protection, if you have concerns about that be sure to read them.I want to focus more on what this game brings to the table for newcomers and from the point of view of someone that has played a previous version of NFS and wants to know if this game has enough new features to merit a purchase.

If you have never played any version of Need for Speed and you are looking for a racing game for the PC then you have come to the right place. This is a very good racing game that allows you to customize your vehicle to help break up the monotony of only completing one race right after the other. This is definitely the best racing game to buy if you want to get a good start in the NFS series. If you are still unsure and want to break into the series on a cheaper title then NFS Underground 2 will give you a good look on the cheap.

If you are a veteran and are wondering what the new features are I'll try to outline them here.Need For Speed Underground 2 is the only other NFS title I have played. All of the comparisons I am making are based on the differences between NFSU2 and this title.

1)Graphics.The graphics have improved considerably over NFSU2.The car models look much better and the game ran much more smoothly for me despite the better quality in graphics. In NFSU2 I would get moments where the game would stutter, I have had no such experience in Most Wanted.

I have heard some people have problems with ATI cards; mainly that ATI is a bit behind with optimizing their drivers for this game.I believe these problems are mainly resolved as I have no problems with my Radeon 9800.You will however need a higher end graphics card to run the game. You do not have to have the latest and greatest card because the game does a decent job of offering options where you can play with lower detail.

2) Races.I will say that it seems like the races were more varied in NFSU2 than they are in Most Wanted. In NFSU2 you had several different race types that added to the variety of the game namely drag, drift, street, and a few different forms of circuit (URL and circuit) and sprint (races to photo ops and sprint). In Most Wanted all the races are variations of either circuit or sprint. There is a new circuit racing mode called knock out where the person that comes in last on each lap is dropped from the race.

Police chases have been added for variety and as a replacement to the drift and street modes of NFS2U.This is welcome.I often wondered where all the police were while you were racing on the street in NFSU2.

In this version you compete against people on the black list (a list of the most infamous racers around). You have to qualify to compete against the blacklist racers by winning races and building a wanted level with the police. After you beat someone on the blacklist you are given the opportunity to pick 2 of 5 rewards. The rewards are cash, performance parts, visual parts, and one of the rewards is the title (pink slip) to the car you just beat. You do not know what the reward will be before you pick it.If you get lucky you'll walk away with your opponents vehicle.

Another welcome change over NFSU2 is the ability to instantly jump to race locations. In the old version you had to spend hours (cummatively) driving from one race location to the next.Gone are the days of driving from the Airport to the top of that mountain (Beacon Hill?) to complete one race just to find out that the next grouping of races that appears are at the bottom of the map.

One last improvement that I'll mention is that it seems as though focus has shifted away from visual customization. In NFSU2 you had certain goals where you had to build a car that had a certain level of visual appeal.Often all that meant was that you had to make your car tacky and disgusting by taking it much further than you would have just so you can get that 9 star rating.More did not equal better in my book.I would have been happier if they let me keep the car the way I wanted instead of forcing me to add roof scoops just so I could progress in the game.

The con:
I wanted to mention why I docked the game by one star. The game uses what is refered to as "rubberband" AI.That pretty much means that the AI will make sure all the races are close.Imagine you and an opponent are connected by a rubberband. If the opponent gets too far behind the rubberband is pulled tightly and the opponent will be sprung forward as a result. In other words the farther away the computer is the faster they will drive, irreguardless of what the top speeds of the cars you and the computer are driving are supposed to be.

This can become very frustrating. For example, once I pinned an opponent between an 18 wheeler and the road.It resulted in a quick 8 second lead.Making no mistakes on my part, the computer was able to pass me like I was standing still about 10 or 15 seconds after I had built that 8 second lead... as if I was stopped at a standstill. There really is no excuse for this kind of AI, and it was not present in NFSU2.If you outsmarted/drove the competition you outsmarted/drove the competition. Not so in Most Wanted.Every race will come down to the wire no matter how far you get in front of the opponent.I'll be looking for a patch that fixes or balances this issue.

SWAT 4: Special Weapons and Tactics Review

SWAT 4: Special Weapons and Tactics
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Despite what some say, SWAT 4 delivers as it is supposed to. If you were a SWAT 3 fan, then say hello to SWAT 4, a more graphically advanced edition with some AWESOME control and a much improved "drop down" command menu, including the ability to command a "red" and "blue" element at different times, or the WHOLE element at once.

The bad guys are smarter, sneak up on you, and change positions. Some give up easily, others run, and others fight back. It's replay value is AWESOME, and Im sure multiplayer is just unreal...I just havent had the time to get to it yet since Im on mission 5 of the single player!!

This is not meant to be a Max Payne or Half Life 2 game, its a stricly "SWAT" oriented game, slow in pace, much like a Splinter Cell. This is NOT a run and gun, its a strategic first person shooter for SWAT series fans.

Be aware that it takes a few minutes to set up the keyboard the way that is most comfortable, and you may change the config a few times in the control panel before you set it for good. Having the controls set up to where you can access all commands easily is key to keeping this game exciting and not annoying!

The system requirements arent too bad...but PCGAMER reccommends a 2.4ghz P4 and a 128mb graphics card. For reference, Im running it on a 3.4ghz Extreme Edition CPU, 1 GB of RAM, an X800 XT 256mb graphics card, and surround sound.

Product Description:
Looking for a tactical shooter that asks you to do more than charge a building, guns a' blazin'? With a focus on sparing as many lives as possible, SWAT 4 not only raises the stakes, it raises the realism to a new level. Choose your loadout carefully and only go lethal when all else fails and the lives of innocents or a squad member are at stake.
In SWAT 4, you're the leader, nicknamed "Boss," and it's your job to command three other specialists through a variety of missions in every corner of a perilous, crime-infested city. Your special weapons and tactics squad consists of basic specialist types, an Assaulter, a Breacher, a Scout and a Non-lethal Specialist. These specialists can be customized to your tastes, and you can pick weapons that suit your mission objectives and plan. In keeping with SWAT 4's focus on non-lethal, life-preserving engagements, you can choose weapons such as tasers, flashbang grenades, and a bean bag-hurling shotgun. Of course, many situations turn hot, and the baddies you'll face will be well armed, so there is a complete selection of lethal firepower, as well.
Your missions will focus on neutralizing criminal elements and taking as many suspects into custody as possible. How you do that is up to you, but the game demands restraint, stealth and an eye for gaining the tactical advantage over opponents. You'll use items like the "Optiwand" to look around corners and under doors to scout for foes, before rushing in and subduing a suspect with pepper spray, CS gas or, if things turn ugly, live rounds. Be careful, though; killing innocents will end your mission immediately.
As squad leader, you make the ultimate calls about whether to enter rooms, open fire, or retreat. You'll command three other capable comrades with the only goal of keeping people alive. SWAT 4's intuitive command system will have you giving orders and organizing your team effectively in no time. All commands are contextual, meaning the game provides possible options depending on the situation you're in. This allows you to make decisions quickly, because when lives are at stake and the action heats up, one thing you don't have is a lot of time.
The SWAT franchise is well known for great multi-player action, and SWAT 4 is no exception. You can play online in one of three modes, Barricaded Suspects, V.I.P. Escort, or Rapid Deployment. Each mode comes with unique challenges and makes special demands on your powers of cooperation and command. Keep a cool head, and keep the body bags to a minimum.
