Playstation 2 and PC Alienware Gamepad Review

I gave this controller a 4 out of 5 stars because I haven't had a problem with it, but then again I only use it for my ps2.

As far a using it for the ps2 system it works excellent and you probably wont find anything better. The control handle is a bit thicker than the normal ps2 controller and gives it a more steady feel in the hands. You may not really notice it much if at all but the feeling of it will feel much better than other ps2 controllers.

Another great feature on this controller is the option of switching the joystick tops, or grips from the standard round ps2 style to the concave type the microsoft did with there controllers. I prefer the concave style so my thumbs are sitting nice and steady of the joysticks instead of constantly adjusting them to the round tops but that is just me.

The D-pad on the alienware controller here is much better than standard ps2 controllers or even some other off brand company controller because instead of the d-pad being 4 individual buttons that can be irritating to use, if you were to use them, is just a single pad that tilts but contains the outlines of the original so its like the standard controller but not. This may not be a serious deal to most people but if you were playing old playstation games on your ps2 like I tend to do than this controller would work wonders for you.

I haven't done much of computer game playing with this controller but from what I did use this controller for I can tell you that it is much better at just being a ps2 controller than a pc controller. It can't just be plugged into the computer and be used and depending on the game it might not even work. The usb connector was pretty unstable and shook loose from the port a few times for me. I don't really know if it was just me or not but I didn't really have much luck with this on the pc but if your looking for a new ps2 controller than this would be a good way to go.

Now for all that your getting this is a pretty decent controller for just around $25 and it comes in 4 colors. I personally got the blue and I really didn't want it cause, not to say the blue it bad, the blue lights just irritate me but thats just me. Of my personally opinion the black or green ones would be nice for anyone but that is just me. Hope I was able to help some people here with this review.

Must have been in a warehouse for a long time as it only holds a charge for about 1/2 as long as the controller that came with the system.

Logitech WingMan Cordless Rumblepad 2.4 GHz (USB) Review

I used to use the sidewinder microsoft controllers. My usage of the controller has been for EA sports games, madden/nba/nhl etc. Microsoft sidewinder pros I was wearing out literally within 6 months of purchase.Having been used to the "6 button" pad I didn't want to have to relearn ps2 controls. So when the Wingman cordless came out I gave it a try.I liked it so much I have 3 of them now.I use them daily and I'm not abusive to them but I will say they feel great in an adult's hands. My kids have trouble handling them as they are big and heavy. They usually just put the controller in their lap as they play. The controller key points are the accuracy of the digital sticks are phenomenal.I play online in games and these controllers are the difference many times on big plays or just making plays that in the past I didn't have a prayer. The games I use do not have the "rumble" features and in online play I really don't care for it.
The batteries will wear out every 10-20 hrs on play.I highly recommend you buy nimh rechargeables. The batteries will pay for themselves very quickly.
If you want a great accurate good feel adult controller this is the one to get.If you like the sidewinder controllers this one will make you forget about them real quick.
If you want "rumble" features I don't know how much support is out there so far, so don't buy for that "whistle" that's not supported a ton yet.
Overall I'm totally satisfied, I'd say I've got 2-300 hrs of playing time on them all and they all work like new. They are the best controller on the market.

3 in 1 Magic Joy Box (PS2/PS/GC/XBOX to PC USB Adapter) Review

3 in 1 Magic Joy Box

The GameCube and PS2 slots work like a charm right out of the box, even on Windows 7 x64. Sadly, it would not recognize any Xbox S Controller I threw at it, and I had quite a few laying around, even with the drivers from the Mayflash site. It did however, have no problem recognizing the original "duke" Xbox controller, so I guess it technically works... But honestly, who wants to use the friggin' duke? It even has a picture of an S controller on the back of the package, so I assume they weren't intending just the duke to work. All my machines are running Windows 7 now, so unfortunately I couldn't test to see if XP/Vista have the same problem.

Edit: I went back in to work on this problem more, after realizing the drivers HAD to work for both the S and the duke since they'd need to seem identical to an actual Xbox. With a little bit of trial and error, I found out I was right. In case anyone has the same issue I did, I shall share my very simple solution. It doesn't take a genius to figure this out, but maybe I can save you some time and effort. Remember, I can only verify this for Windows 7 x64, but I imagine it could apply to other operating systems if they have similar problems. Making it step by step for those not too great with Windows.

1. Install the latest 3 in 1 drivers from the Mayflash.com, if you haven't already.
2. If Windows fails to install the drivers automatically, it should appear in Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers as a "Generic USB Hub" with the dreaded yellow exclamation mark.
3. Right click, click properties, and under the hardware tab you should have "Generic USB Hub" and "Unknown Device" with a yellow exclamation point.
4. Click on the unknown device and hit the properties button. Go to the driver tab, click update driver. Then click "Browse My Computer for Driver software." Then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer". Select "Show All Devices" and click Next. Under manufacturer, scroll down to "TigerGame Limited" and select "TigerGame Xbox+PS2+GameCube Controller Adapter", and hit next. You'll have a warning pop up, click yes. You may also be asked to trust content from "Xinan Ruida Electronic Factory", click yes.

There you go, you should be set. Make sure you change the controller mode to analog and calibrate. Hope all that typing helps someone.

Genius MaxFire Pandora Pro, mini USB PC gamepad, retractable cable. Review

This thing delivers in spades! It's nice and small, so you don't need to do much dancing to access all the buttons. The analog nub works just like the PSP's, and works alright for a D-Pad as well. I'm on a mac, so the included drivers weren't of much use, but it's an HID device so it works fine. Works with emulators, Cave Story, and other games. Comes in a really nice box, too.

Especially at this price, this is ideal for a notebook gamer.
